Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay had a rather awkward conversation during his recent interview with Barstool Sports.
McVay was interviewed by Barstool Sports’ Caleb Pressley on the “Sundae Conversation”. Let’s just say that the 36-year-old McVay didn’t seem fully prepared for some of the questions that came his way.
Pressley started out the interview by asking McVay if he “believes in concussions”, to which the Super Bowl 56-winning head coach said he indeed believes that they’re “real.”
Pressley followed up that question by asking McVay if he thinks “concussions are stupid,” and if people with concussions are “stupid”. McVay said no to both of those questions, adding that effects of concussions can make people “a little impaired.”
More and more concussion-related questions followed from there. McVay, like a professional, tried to answer the questions as honestly as he could.

Concussions in football have been a well-documented issue for quite some time. The problem became a major talking point back in Week 4, when Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins suffered a concussion against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 29.
Four days earlier, Tagovailoa briefly left the Dolphins’ Week 3 home game against the Buffalo Bills. He was visibly wobbly after taking a hit in that game, but to the surprise of many, Tagovailoa came back in to finish the contest.
The Dolphins and the NFL received major backlash for clearing Tagovailoa against Cincinnati on the short week. The NFL and the NFLPA later fired a doctor who gave the Miami quarterback clearance to play.
Tagovailoa missed Miami’s Weeks 5 and 6 games against the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings, respectively. But Miami has won all three games since his return to the field, and they’re sitting comfortably in playoff position with a 6-3 record.
McVay’s Rams fell to 3-5 on the season after losing 16-13 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday evening. They’ll try to rebound next Sunday with a late afternoon home tilt against the NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals.
