Of all the various factors that Odell Beckham Jr. had to consider when choosing a new team, one of the most important details he needed to know was which jersey number he could wear.
Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reported Beckham’s number became “one of the only holdups” in the talks between the two teams. According to the insider’s sources, Beckham discussed wearing Nos. 1, 3 and 13,” but there were issues with each.
No. 1 was worn by former Ram DeSean Jackson. No. 3 already belonged to injured Rams running back Cam Akers, while No. 13 is currently being worn by backup QB John Wolford.
Eventually, both sides came to an agreement to have Odell rock the No. 3 for the remainder of the year.
Beckham was released by the Cleveland Browns last week, and he signed a one-year contract with the Rams on Thursday.
