The Los Angeles Rams went all-in during the 2021 NFL season, and the end result was a Super Bowl LVI title. They did it with a star-studded roster, but there were also some very notable absences during the big game.
The Rams lost some key contributors during their run to Super Bowl glory. We’re talking guys like Robert Woods, Jordan Fuller and Tyler Higbee, among others. All of these guys contributed to the Rams’ success in one way or another, and that contribution was recognized by Rams star offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth.
The 40-year-old four-time Pro Bowler decided to honor all of the injured Rams who couldn’t be on the field for Super Bowl LVI by writing their names on the shirt he wore underneath his uniform for the game.
Following the Rams’ 23-20 victory over Cincinnati, he showed Woods and Higbee the shirt, telling them that he “had them in his heart all game.”
Super Bowl LVI was likely Whitworth’s final NFL game, has he’ll be turning 41 next season. He still has plenty left in the tank, but you’d have to assume that at his age, he’ll gladly go out on top.
