Kenyan Drake is not a happy man after sustaining an ankle injury during his team’s 17-15 loss at home to Washington on Sunday.
Midway through the second quarter, Drake took a handoff and was stopped for no gain by three Washington defenders. One of those defenders, WFT defensive tackle Daniel Wise, then grabbed Drake from behind and dragged him backwards while rolling up on his legs and ankles. Drake fumbled on the play, and Washington recovered. However, replays determined that the running back’s knee was down before he lost control of the ball.
That was the good news for Drake. The bad news was that he would be forced to leave the game with what appears to be a significant ankle injury.
It must be pretty bad, because he took to twitter this morning to call out the league for flagging taunting and minor hits on the quarterback, while allowing tackles like the one that forced him from yesterday’s game.
Drake was carted off the field after being attended to by the Raiders’ medical staff. He was eventually diagnosed with a broken ankle, and his 2021 season is officially over.

It’s a tough end to Drake’s season. In his first year with the Raiders, he had 254 rushing yards, 291 receiving yards, and three total touchdown in 12 games. He signed a two-year contract with Las Vegas in the offseason, so he’s expected to be back with the team in 2022.
