There may be a ton of people upset with the fact that Jon Gruden had to leave his position over some emails he wrote, but Josh Jacobs does not appear to be one of those people. After the Raiders won 34-24 against the Denver Broncos on the road to snap a two-game losing streak in Gruden’s final games with the team, starting running back Josh Jacobs made some eye-opening comments while talking to the media on Wednesday.
Jacobs revealed that interim head coach Rich Bisaccia brought a calm presence to the team’s sideline.
“Man, the sideline … it was like (there was no) anxiety,” Jacobs said, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It was weird. It was like everybody was calm. You didn’t have somebody cussing at you, or going crazy at the refs. None of that.”
Jacobs also explained that players aren’t worrying about getting their ears chewed out after an unfortunate play.
“It was like, ‘OK, not going to harp on it, next play.’ The guys all kind of motivated each other,” Jacobs explained. “You saw a lot of defensive guys standing up and offensive guys jumping off the bench when the defense made plays. I was like, that’s the right type of energy that we needed. I loved it.”
Gruden’s style of coaching is what had teams wanting to sign him for years before the Raiders finally brought him out of a retirement on a 10-year deal.
