The Las Vegas Raiders were already in tough during their Wild Card battle against the Bengals in Cincy. So they certainly don’t need mental errors like the one Peyton Barber experienced on this kickoff in the first half.
After a Bengals field goal in the first quarter that made it 10-3, Cincy kicker Evan McPherson sent the kickoff out of bounds…at least it seemed to be headed in that direction, before running back Peyton Barber grabbed it at the two yard line and stepped out of bounds himself.
Had Barber stepped out of bounds FIRST, then grabbed the ball, it would have been the Raiders’ ball at the 40 yard line. Instead, they were forced to start from their own two-yard line.
The Raiders were eventually forced to punt from their end zone, giving the Bengals good field position that would set up another field goal for the home team.
