If you have been on Reddit at any point over the past year, then you likely already knew that the Las Vegas Raiders were a serious contender to get into the playoffs based off how a coin toss went.
On Reddit’s Raiders subreddit, user u/pongislame posted at the beginning of the season that he had flipped a coin for every Raiders regular season game in order to make a prediction for the campaign.
The coin flip was a perfect 11-0 at one time but would miss on the result of the Washington game. The Raiders lost.
Just when you thought it was over, the Raiders correctly matched the next four games to get 15 of 16 predictions correct by the result of a coin flip. Entering the 17th game, the coin had dictated that the Raiders lose. However, just when it seemed like they were headed for a tie, Chargers head coach Brandon Staley called a timeout in OT, which helped set up the Raiders for the game winning field goal.
With the Washington loss and the Chargers win, the Raiders finished the season at 10-7 which the coin correctly predicted. A few wrong here and there and they still managed to get the record correct.
ESPN’s simulations gave the Raiders an 8-9 record, so there’s that.
