There is one team that is heartbroken after Tom Brady announced his retirement.
The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly were “absolutely counting on” Brady being available, according to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio. Now that he is seemingly done with the NFL, the team will turn to try to acquire Aaron Rodgers.
“As one source with knowledge of the dynamics with the Raiders told PFT in the aftermath of Wednesday’s news, the Raiders “absolutely” were counting on Brady being available. And with Brady out of play, the source predicted that they’ll now try to secure the services of Aaron Rodgers,” Florio wrote.
The Raiders would seem like a perfect fit for Brady as they bolster many offensive weapons that he did not have in Tampa Bay this last season. It’s the reason why the team barely made the playoffs while finishing under .500.
The Raiders are currently looking for a new quarterback after they benched Derek Carr for the final few weeks and made it known he would either be traded or released. The team is coming off a disappointing 6-11 2022 campaign.
The veteran QB and future hall of fame QB made it known in his retirement video that this was it for him and he won’t be returning like he did last offseason.
