Senator Ted Cruz flew to Cancun, Mexico, with his family right in the midst of millions of people in Texas dealing with a winter storm that left a large number of them without power since Sunday night.
After the trip became public, Cruz released a statement and said he planned to fly back immediately after backlash on social media.
While many blasted Cruz, it was Rachel Bush, the wife of Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer, who decided to go another route. She called out the hypocrisy of democrats who did not have the same energy when their political figures pulled questionable stunts.
“Y’all so mad over Cruz when you got damn near every single democrat political figure out here as the “poster boy” for hypocrisy. So many caught traveling or in salons when THEY said others shouldn’t. That’s the difference. At least conservatives aren’t hypocrites. Do what u want.”
“If you have a valid reason to be mad by all means go off lol no one is talking directly to you then. I agree. I’m speaking on those who point the finger at him solely because he’s a republican but won’t do the same for all the hypocritical democrats.”

Cruz addressed the trip in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
“With school cancelled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends,” he said. “Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon. My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas. We want our power back, our water on, and our homes warm. My team and I will continue using all our resources to keep Texans informed and safe.”
Cruz added: “This has been an infuriating week for Texans. The greatest state in the greatest country in the world has been without power. We have food lines, gas lines, and people sleeping at the neighbors’ houses. Our homes are freezing and our lights are out. Like millions of Texans, our family lost heat and power too.”
