There is so much that goes into the free agent process, but the financials of new deals around the league are one of the main factors that entice a player to join a new squad.
For Jordan Poyer, he has been trying to get paid by the Buffalo Bills for a few years, but nothing has materialized. He just continued to deliver on the field and now he is expected to land a huge deal somewhere else in free agency.
Before the free agent process, Poyer’s wife, Rachel Bush, delivered a strong message to all teams about her husband and what they will be getting for signing him.
“Wherever Jordan goes he’s going to be such a game changer. And that’s what I’m most excited to see, the difference he makes and leadership he brings!”
Poyer has become one of the best safeties in the NFL during his time with the Buffalo Bills after joining them in 2017. He signed a four-year, $13 million deal and was given a two-year extension in 2021 worth $19.5 million.
Poyer went on to make first-team All-Pro in 2021 and earned a Pro Bowl bid last season.

He made it clear a few days ago that he wants his next team to be in a state where taxes won’t take half his income.
“I would love to go to a state that doesn’t take half my money,” he said. “It’s crazy to me how taxes work. Some people will say, ‘You’re already making X amount of money.’ Taxes play a big part in all of our lives.”
The first-team All-Pro defender also floated the possibility of potentially joining Buffalo’s rival: the Miami Dolphins.
“It’d be crazy to stay in the [AFC] East and come down here to South Florida,” said Poyer.
Free agency officially opens on March 15 with the beginning of the 2023 NFL league year.
