The ongoing saga involving Michael Oher and Memphis’s Tuohy family has been getting a lot of attention, with the number of pertinent people weighing in growing steadily.
Quinton Aaron, the actor who played the former Ole Miss star in ‘The Blind Side’, has added his voice to the mix, but to defend Sandra Bullock. The actress played Leigh Anne Tuohy in the 2009 film and has come under fire amid the controversy, with some fans calling for her to lose the Oscar she won in 2010 on account of her role in the movie.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Aaron has hit out at the folks calling for Bullock to return the award, pointing out that she had nothing to do with whatever happened in real life and shouldn’t be punished in any way for her portrayal.
“To make a statement like that doesn’t make any sense,” Aaron said. “Sandra Bullock didn’t have anything to do with the real story that we’re reading as of right now.
“She gave a brilliant performance, and that shouldn’t be tarnished for something that had nothing to do with her.”
The actor also noted that he hasn’t been in contact with the family since 2009, though he didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary during their interactions.
“I got a good sense from all of them,” he explained. “They were real cool to me.”
