Multiple NFL quarterbacks have revealed having turned down the opportunity to feature in the hit Netflix series, ‘Quarterback’. But, according to Pat McAfee, this is all by design.
While the show has been approved for a second season after a successful debut in which Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariotta starred, there were fears the streaming giants could have some trouble securing another trio of NFL QBs given the number of stars who claim to have rejected their advances.
Speaking on his ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ this week, the former NFL kicker put those to rest by revealing inside sources have told him that all of the reported rejections are part of Netflix’s plan given that they don’t want anyone to know who will star in the second season until it gets there.
“We are also told that nobody will know who is on Quarterback, by design. So any of the announcements of this person being on the show are not real. They will not be legitimized until long, long, long time from now.”
There have been rumors naming various QBs over the last few weeks, the most notable involving Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow. NBC’s Peter King made mention of the former LSU signal-caller being one of the parties before editing it out of his column.
Whether or not this turns out to be the case remains to be seen.
