The Los Angeles Rams have several pivotal decisions to make this offseason following, quite frankly, the worst Super Bowl defense in NFL history.
One year ago, the Rams won the NFC West division crown with a 12-5 record en route to a Super Bowl 56 championship. Despite keeping their main core together, the Rams looked out of sync all season long and finished a disappointing 5-12 on the year.
The Rams certainly won’t trade generational talent and defensive tackle Aaron Donald, quarterback Matthew Stafford or wide receiver Cooper Kupp. But there has been speculation that the Rams may look to trade away another high-salaried player in star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
The Ramsey trade rumors started to grow when he posted the following tweet after the Rams’ season concluded:
At NFL Analysis Network, Kenneth Teape proposed a blockbuster trade scenario that would see the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles acquire Ramsey from Los Angeles:
“What would it cost to land him? The Rams cannot expect the same kind of return that they paid for him a few years ago, but he is still worth a good amount. The Eagles can make an aggressive offer, putting the 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick they own from the New Orleans Saints on the table depending on how strong the market is.
At the very least, a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and their additional second-rounder in the 2024 NFL Draft should be made available. If the Eagles get the Jalen Ramsey we have become accustomed to and not the 2022 version, this will be yet another masterclass acquisition by general manager Howie Roseman.”

As Teape noted, veteran standout corner James Bradberry can become a free agent after this season. If the Eagles can’t retain the 2022 Second-team All-Pro, adding Ramsey to a star-studded defense would only enhance their chances of winning another Super Bowl.
There’s also no firm indicator that the Rams are shopping Ramsey, or that he actually wants out of La La Land. But if he ends up going on the trade block, a team purely in win-now mode like the Eagles should absolutely make a call to Rams GM Les Snead.
After all, a cornerback duo of Ramsey and Darius Slay would be as good as any other we’ve seen over the last 20 or so years.
