Getting a new quarterback will be a priority for the Las Vegas Raiders this year.
While Derek Carr is still on the roster, his stint with the team is virtually over and the Raiders are now keen on bringing a new signal-caller in.
Tom Brady is thought to be their main target, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star likely to sign elsewhere in free agency. But the veteran QB might not be interested in a move to Vegas when there’s something extra to be had from signing for the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, or San Francisco 49ers.
The upcoming NFL Draft will also present lots of options but the Raiders might need to trade up if they want a QB of the highest tier, though they have the seventh pick in the first round.
The 33rd Team has done a mock draft in which Las Vegas trades their No. 7, No. 38, No. 70, and No. 108 picks to the Arizona Cardinals for their No. 3, No. 96, and No. 167 picks, then drafts C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State.
“When the Raiders are unable to sign Tom Brady or Jimmy Garoppolo, they are forced into an aggressive move to get one of the top three QBs in this class. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Stroud needs to speed up his processing, but he has a lot of NFL traits and an NFL-quality arm.”

Given that the Arizona Cardinals won’t be looking to draft a QB with their third pick, they make sense as a trade partner for the Raiders.
As for Las Vegas, they would do well to move up four spots and not have to give up their first-round pick for next year.
