The New Orleans Saints have one of the NFL’s most prized assets at the moment, given that they own the rights to Sean Payton.
The football analyst is considering a return to coaching but any team looking to sign him would have to offer something very attractive in exchange.
The Arizona Cardinals are said to be the chief landing spot for the 59-year-old following their sacking of Kliff Kingsbury. They have something any team picking above third in the draft would want: the third overall pick for 2023.
It’s now being rumored that the Cards could let the Saints have said pick in exchange for Payton. It’s also been suggested that the Saints could fashion a reunion between Ohio State quarterback C.J Stroud and their wide receiver Chris Olave by drafting the QB at No.3 this year.
Stroud and Olave combined to devastating effect while playing together for the Buckeyes. And pairing them on the same team in the pros would probably make a contender of any franchise.
For now, though, this is all conjecture. But it’s certainly something to think about.
