The Dallas Cowboys will need to make some tough decisions this offseason as they look recover from yet another early playoff exit.
Last year, the Cowboys saw their season end at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round. This past season, they crushed Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, only to fall again to the 49ers in the Divisional Round.
Jerry Jones has never been afraid to make a blockbuster deal if it’ll help his team’s chances of winning. And he may have to continue living up to that reputation if his Cowboys are to get over the Super Bowl hump next season.
Star linebacker Micah Parsons is by far the Cowboys’ most untradeable player, but what would a trade for the Penn State product look like? Alex Kay at Bleacher Report outlined a series of “absurd” trade ideas for “untouchable” stars.
Among them? Parsons going to the Chicago Bears for the top selection in this year’s draft along with 2023 second and third-round picks:
“Adding a talent like Parsons would instantly elevate Chicago’s defensive capabilities. The Penn State product helped transform Dallas’ defense from one that allowed 29.6 points per game in 2020 to one that gave up a much more respectable 21.1 points per game the following season.
Unfortunately for the Bears, it will likely take much more than the No. 1 overall pick to convince the Cowboys to move Parsons. He’s arguably the most cost-effective defender in the league and isn’t eligible for an extension until 2024, a contract that is allowing the Cowboys to splurge on other pieces before his inevitable payday.”
There is zero indication that the Cowboys would even move Parsons, who has single-handedly turned their defense into one of the NFL’s best since his 2021 rookie year. But if the Bears were to ever offer up that exact package outlined by Kay? Jerry would definitely have to think about it.
