Former NFL standout tight end Eric Ebron is hanging up the cleats.
Eric Ebron, who last played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021, announced in an Instagram post that he’s retiring at the age of 31. The North Carolina product spent eight seasons in the NFL.
Ebron was selected 10th overall by the Detroit Lions in the star-studded 2014 NFL Draft. They had hoped that he’d emerge as another game-changing weapon to help the Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson-led offense, but it never materialized.
After four seasons in Detroit, Eric Ebron signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2018 and had the best season of his career. He caught 66 passes for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning the lone Pro Bowl nod of his career.
Ebron missed five games in the 2019 season and finished with 31 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns. He signed with the Steelers in free agency, helping them to the AFC North division crown after catching 56 passes for 558 yards and five touchdowns.

Eric Ebron’s Career Stat Line
Ebron may be regarded as a bust in Detroit, considering how many marquee talents they passed on in his favor in the 2014 Draft.
But he still finished with a stellar career stat line of 351 receptions for 3,837 yards and 33 touchdowns. His 13 TD receptions in the 2018 season are the most ever by a Colts tight end in a single year.
