Dak Prescott was not a hot commodity quarterback coming out of college, but he’s done enough during his time as a starter to warrant a big contract. The 135th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft picked up the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, led the Cowboys to a #1 seed, and even picked up a playoff win this past postseason.
Now, he wants to get paid for his talent.
While speaking with USA Today Sports, Prescott was asked would he consider giving the Cowboys a hometown discount, but he wasn’t having any of it and used the perfect analogy with Tom Brady as to why.
Prescott doesn’t see Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s team-friendly deal, for which he made just $15 million last season, as a blueprint for his own.
“Nobody’s wife makes as much money as his wife does either,” Prescott said of Brady’s supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen, who earned $10 million in 2018 and $17.5 million in 2017, per reports. “When Tom Brady isn’t the breadwinner in the home, then that’s a great problem to have.
“So in that case, he can do that. He can do his contract however you want to do it.”
The Cowboys definitely have some tough decisions to make, because Ezekiel Elliott is huge reason as to why Prescott is successful, and with the addition of Amari Cooper last season, it made him look even better. But, is it HUGE contract worthy? We shall see.
