With Monday Night Football in the books, Week 15 of the NFL is a wrap. Before we fully turn the page to Week 16, let’s rank every NFL team’s defense.
32. Los Angeles Chargers (Last Week #22)
The Chargers defense did not want any part of that Thursday Night Football showdown with the Raiders. Granted, they were put in some tough positions by the turnovers on offense, but when you give up 63 points, you are going to end up in the cellar.
31. Washington Commanders (Last Week #31)
No shocker here, but the Washington defense had another tough showing this week. The Commanders showed zero ability to contain the Rams offense onslaught, as L.A. moved the ball at will and racked up 445 yards of total offense.
30. New York Giants (Last Week #21)
The New York Giants defense had a lame showing on Sunday against a mediocre Saints offense. The Giants couldn’t really get off the field with any consistency, as the Saints racked up 20 first downs and dominated the time of possession.

29. Arizona Cardinals (Last Week #24)
The Cardinals defense had nothing for the 49ers this week. San Francisco scored at will, racking up 45 points and over 400 yards of total offense on them.
28. Green Bay Packers (Last Week #17)
The Packers defense has fallen apart in back-to-back weeks now. Green Bay got boat raced by the Bucs offense to the tune of 34 points and over 400 yards of offense.
27. Carolina Panthers (Last Week #30)
The Carolina defense played fairly well on Sunday, albeit against a terrible Falcons offense. That said, when you hold a team under 10 points that deserves acknowledgement.
26. Pittsburgh Steelers (Last Week #18)
The Steelers defense is starting to tear at the seams. After getting torched by Bailey Zappe in Week 14, they followed up with getting carved up by Gardner Minshew and a scrappy Colts offense.
25. Detroit Lions (Last Week #32)
It has been a rough couple of months for the Detroit Lions defense, but the group finally put together a solid showing this week against the Broncos. They shut Denver out in the first half and held them under 300 yards of total offense.
24. Atlanta Falcons (Last Week #25)
Atlanta’s defense responded nicely this week, admittedly against a bad Panthers offense. They limited Carolina to nine points and only field goals, which is an impressive stand.
23. Seattle Seahawks (Last Week #28)
Seattle’s defense got off to a rocky start on Monday Night against the Eagles, as Jalen Hurts and co. moved the ball down the field with ease on the opening drive, but the Seahawks did tighten things up and made things challenging for the Eagles after that.
22. Jacksonville Jaguars (Last Week #23)
The Jaguars defense fought hard all night, but eventually the mistakes on the offensive side of the ball became too much to handle and the Raven broke through with slew of second-half scoring.
21. New Orleans Saints (Last Week #29)
The Saints defense came to play on Sunday and did a heck of a job turning Tommy DeVito back into a pumpkin. New Orleans held the Giants to just two of 16 3rd down conversions and under 200 yards of total offense for the game.
20. Tennessee Titans (Last Week #19)
Tennessee’s defense wasn’t the issue on Sunday. Granted, they were facing a backup quarterback in Case Keenum, but they did well to hold Houston under 20 points and made things challenging for them offensively all game.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Last Week #27)
The Buccaneers run defense really rose to the occasion holding Green Bay to just 60 yards on the ground. If this group can regain that identity it had over the past couple years, Tampa could surprise someone come playoff time.
18. Houston Texans (Last Week #26)
The Texans defense ball out on Sunday. They were flying all over the field and in the backfield seemingly every play, finishing with an impressive seven sacks.
17. New York Jets (Last Week #4)
It looks like the Jets defense has finally hit its breaking point. They’ve been one of the better units in the league all season, but with the horrible situations they are routinely put in by the offense, it is no wonder that they fell apart this week against Miami.
16. Las Vegas Raiders (Last Week #20)
The Raiders defense took care of business on Thursday Night, shutting out the Chargers in the first half and only really allowing any sort of movement once the game was full out of reach.
15. Denver Broncos (Last Week #5)
The Broncos defense failed to show up when it really needed to this week against the Lions. Denver couldn’t stop Detroit at all, as Jared Goff carved them up for five scores in the emphatic win.
14. Chicago Bears (Last Week #10)
Chicago’s defense was successful in stopping the Browns rushing attack and were looking great all game, but faltered down the stretch as they allowed 13 of the Browns 20 points in the 4th quarter and lost the game.
13. New England Patriots (Last Week #8)
After a hot couple of weeks, the Patriots defense didn’t look great on Sunday, but to be fair, they did run into an extremely motivated Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs team.
12. Dallas Cowboys (Last Week #2)
After an impressive performance against the Eagles, the Dallas defense fell apart this week They let Buffalo run all over them to the tune of an insane 266 yards in route to a 31-point explosion.
11. Indianapolis Colts (Last Week #16)
Indy’s defense took care of business this week against a bad Steelers offense. They held Pittsburgh to 13 points and just 216 yards of total offense.
10. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week #15)
It looks like the shift in play callers to Matt Patricia gave the Eagles defense a nice shot in the arm this week. In fairness, it could’ve been that they were facing off against a Drew Lock-led Seahawks offense, but regardless, they were dominant on Monday Night.
9. Cincinnati Bengals (Last Week #14)
Cincinnati’s defense was solid this week against the Vikings. The Bengals got stops and forced turnovers when they needed to in the 4th quarter, setting up the offense to for a comeback victory.
8. Los Angeles Rams (Last Week #12)
Though the defense faltered slightly in the second half, most of Washington’s offensive production was really just in garbage time. If L.A. can tighten up the defense slightly, they will be in a great spot come playoff time.
7. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week #7)
The Vikings defense played great for most of the afternoon on Saturday, led by a beastly effort from Danielle Hunter. Minnesota ended up running out of steam though, as the Bengals came storming back with 21 points in the 4th quarter to force overtime where they would eventually win the game.
6. Cleveland Browns (Last Week #9)
Cleveland’s defense has been its bread and butter all season long. They created havoc for the Bears offense all game, holding them to 17 points and 236 yards of total offense.
5. Buffalo Bills (Last Week #13)
The Bills defense has come alive in recent weeks. Buffalo was flying all over the field on Sunday making things hard for Dak and the Cowboys offense. They kept one of the league’s top offenses under 200 yards of total offense for the game.
4. Miami Dolphins (Last Week #11)
Miami’s defense was flying all over the field Sunday and deserves credit for pitching a shutout, but it must be noted that it was against the Jets, one of the worst offenses in the league.
3. Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week #6)
Kansas City’s defense is really starting to round into form. They were in the backfield all afternoon and really gave Bailey Zappe and the Patriots offense the business this week.
2. Baltimore Ravens (Last Week #2)
Although they bent a bit in the first half, the Ravens defense did well to hold the Jaguars out of the endzone for the most part and they really tightened up when they needed to in the second half.
1. San Francisco 49ers (Last Week #1)
It wasn’t the cleanest performance from the 49ers this week, as they allowed 29 points to a mediocre Cardinals offense, but they are still among the top units in the league.
