The NFL is officially moving on to Week 8, as we near the halfway point of the season, let’s take a look around the league and see where every running back ranks.
32. Minnesota Vikings Alexander Mattison (Last Week #31)
Alexander Mattison had another stinker this week, despite another strong offensive performance from the Vikings. O’Connell gave him the rock 16 times too, which he converted into just 31 yards.
31. Green Bay Packers Aaron Jones (Last Week N/A)
Never a good sign when the team’s lead back is getting out-rushed by the QB. Aaron Jones had a really tough showing against the Vikings this week, carrying the ball just seven times for 29 yards.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rachaad White (Last Week #32)
Rachaad White continues to be borderline irrelevant in the Buccaneers offense. He struggled to get anything going this week against the Bills on Thursday Night Football, turning 9 carries into 39 yards.

29. New England Patriots Rhamondre Stevenson (Last Week #28)
Rhamondre Stevenson hasn’t been able to produce at all this year for New England. The Patriots lead running back finished with 10 carries for 39 yards against a mediocre Miami D.
28. Houston Texans Dameon Pierce (Last Week #29)
Dameon Pierce looked slightly better this week coming off the bye, but still didn’t really look like the version of him that we saw last year. Pierce finished with just 46 yards on 12 carries against a bad Carolina defense.
27. Carolina Panthers Chuba Hubbard (Last Week #20)
Carolina may have won, but it was a down week for Chuba Hubbard, who rushed the ball 15 times for 28 yards against an admittedly sound Houston run defense.
26. Dallas Cowboys Tony Pollard (Last Week #24)
Dallas’s running back, Tony Pollard, had a relatively quiet night considering the offensive fireworks the Cowboys set off against the Rams. He was fairly efficient though, turning 12 carries into 53 yards and chipping in one reception for two yards.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers Najee Harris (Last Week #23)
Najee Harris was actually efficient this week, averaging 8.4 yards per carry, but he got the ball just five times.
24. Buffalo Bills James Cook (Last Week #27)
James Cook picked it up a little bit this week against Tampa Bay. He got the ball 14 times and managed to total 67 rushing yards.
23. Los Angeles Rams Darrell Henderson Jr. (Last Week #12)
Darrell Henderson Jr. had a tough showing rushing the ball this week against a stout Cowboys defense. On 12 carries he totaled just 31 rushing yards, though he did manage to contribute to the passing game, snagging three catches for 54 yards.
22. Las Vegas Raiders Josh Jacobs (Last Week #22)
Josh Jacobs had one of his better games this year. The Raiders running back took 15 carries for 61 yards and a score, while tacking on two receptions for 27 against the Lions on Monday Night Football.
21. Washington Commanders Brian Robinson (Last Week #21)
Washington’s second-year back, Brian Robinson has done well with the limited opportunities he’s had in their pass-heavy offense. He rushed the ball 10 times this week against Philly for 59 yards.
20. Arizona Cardinals Emari Demercado (Last Week #30)
Emari Demercado had a solid showing this week against a strong Ravens defense. James Conner’s understudy finished the game with 78 yards on 20 carries, despite no real threat from the Arizona passing game.
19. Kansas City Chiefs Isiah Pacheco (Last Week #6)
Isiah Pacheco had a down week along with the rest of the Chiefs offenses this week against Denver. The KC running back took eight carries for 40 yards.
18. Seattle Seahawks Kenneth Walker III (Last Week #4)
Kenneth Walker III played well this week in limited action, taking eight carries for 66 yards in another Seahawks win.
17. Atlanta Falcons Bijan Robinson (Last Week #26)
After fighting through an alleged illness Week 8, Bijan Robinson looked better this week, taking 11 carries for 62 yards and a TD. We would still like to see him get more involved in the Atlanta offense though.
16. Chicago Bears D’Onta Foreman (Last Week #14)
D’Onta Foreman was quiet on Sunday Night Football—largely because the Bears were playing catchup all night. Foreman finished the game with nine carries for 34 yards.
15. Los Angeles Chargers Austin Ekeler (Last Week #19)
Austin Ekeler didn’t look great rushing the ball, as he managed just 29 yards on 15 carries, but he was explosive in the passing game, finishing with seven receptions for 94 yards and a score.
14. Philadelphia Eagles D'Andre Swift (Last Week #13)
D’Andre Swift had another solid week on the ground for the Birds, taking 16 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown while chipping in an admittedly pedestrian two receptions for seven yards.
13. Cleveland Browns Kareem Hunt (Last Week N/A)
Kareem Hunt is quietly taking over the lead back role in Cleveland and had another solid performance. He managed 55 yards and one touchdown against the Seahawks on the road.
12. Cincinnati Bengals Joe Mixon (Last Week #25)
Joe Mixon finally looked like himself this week and was running with a definite explosiveness against San Francisco. By day’s end, he totaled 87 rushing yards and one score on 16 carries and added 23 yards on three receptions.
11. Denver Broncos Javonte Williams (Last Week #16)
Javonte Williams looked great against a tough Chiefs defense this week. He was explosive and made tacklers miss, resulting in a 27 carry, 85 yard performance that was complemented nicely by his three catch, 13-yard, one-touchdown contribution to the passing game.
10. Miami Dolphins Raheem Mostert (Last Week Last Week #7)
Raheem Mostert seems to be playing a slightly smaller role in Miami’s offense of late, but the Dolphins lead back continues to be productive. Against New England in Week 8, in turned 13 carries into 46 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
9. Indianapolis Colts Jonathan Taylor (Last Week #13)
Jonathan Taylor looked great during the first half of Indy’s match-up with the Saints, but mysteriously saw extremely limited action after the break. Still, 94 yards in one half deserves recognition.
8. Baltimore Ravens Gus Edwards (Last Week #17)
Gus Edward had another big week and continues to climb up our power rankings. He took full advantage of a struggling Cardinals defense and ran for 80 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, while also notching two receptions for 14 yards.
7. New Orleans Saints Alvin Kamara (Last Week #11)
Man, is it good to see Alvin Kamara back to his dynamic ways. The Saints running back did it both in the running and passing game this week, turning 17 carries into 59 yards and a touchdown and four receptions into 51 yards and another score.
6. Detroit Lions Jahmyr Gibbs (Last Week #9)
Jahmyr Gibbs put up a monster performance in David Montgomery’s absence this week against the Raiders. He carried the ball 26 times for 152 yards and one touchdown and added five catches for 37 to complement the downfield passing attack.
5. Tennessee Titans Derrick Henry (Last Week #8)
It is quietly turning into Tractorcito season—and Derrick Henry is putting the rest of the league on notice. Tennessee’s All-Pro had himself a 100-yard game against the Falcons, helping to open up opportunities for his rookie QB, Will Levis, in the process.
4. New York Jets Breece Hall (Last Week #3)
Breece Hall didn’t put up huge numbers on the ground this week, taking 12 carries for 17 yards, but he was instant offense for the Jets nonetheless, taking six receptions for 76 yards and a score in a game that they needed every yard and point they could get.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars Travis Etienne Jr. (Last Week #5)
Travis Etienne posted another big week for the Jags, helping Jacksonville to its fifth straight win on the strength of his 79 rushing yards and three catches for 70 and a score.
2. New York Giants Saquon Barkley (Last Week #2)
If it weren’t for Christian McCaffrey tying an NFL record that no one ever thought would be broken, Saquon would be an easy choice for number one in the rankings. The Giants running back played hero ball this week going for 128 yards despite the G-Men having zero threat of passing the football.
1. San Francisco 49ers Christian McCaffrey (Last Week #1)
What else is there to say about Christian McCaffrey at this point… Once again, he went well over 100 yards for scrimmage with 54 on the ground and 64 through the air and added two scores, extending his touchdown streak and tying the league record.
