Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has attracted some criticism for his response after a reporter asked why he thinks everyone is fascinated with him and Taylor Swift.
As everyone must know by now, Travis and Taylor are dating. Their relationship is likely to make Sunday’s Super Bowl the most-watched ever, while their names have been on just about everyone’s lips.
While speaking to the media this week, Kelce was asked, “Why do you think everyone is so fascinated with you two?”
“The values that we stand for and who we are as people,” he replied. “We love to shine light on others, shine light around the people that help and support us. I feel like we both have just a love for life.”
OutKick’s Ian Miller felt like that was a bit rich and went in on the Chiefs TE with claims that he’s a sellout while Taylor writes songs about breakups and her past relationships with celebrities.

“What exactly are the “values” that Kelce believes he and Taylor Swift “stand for?”
“Kelce has shown he’s willing to market any product willing to pay him, becoming “Mr. Pfizer” in order to sell more of the company’s under-performing COVID vaccines and flu shots. Swift is mostly known for writing songs about breakups and her prior celebrity relationships. Not exactly the most obvious “value” for people to be fascinated with.”
He went on to explain that people only care because they’re both celebrities.
“The Kelce-Swift relationship took on heightened interest because it happened to start during the NFL season, and while Swift was in the midst of a record-shattering worldwide tour.
“It has nothing to do with a “love for life” or shining “light” on others. It’s got everything to do with Taylor Swift being the world’s biggest pop star and Travis Kelce being one of the most famous athletes in the country’s biggest sport. Wouldn’t exactly have been a hard answer to give there, Travis.”
In any case, Swift will be present when Kelce tries to win his third Super Bowl when the Chiefs play the 49ers this Sunday. She’s likely to make headlines for some reason or the other.
