The NFL world is still shaken up over the news that former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas passed away last night at his home in Roswell, Georgia.
The four-time Pro Bowler was just 33-years-old, and only six years removed from his Super Bowl 50 victory with the Broncos.
More details are emerging by the minutes regarding Thomas’ untimely death. The latest is from the police reports (via TMZ), which state that officers found Thomas laying in the shower, “not conscious and not breathing.” The officers arrived at his home after receiving a 911 call “in reference to a cardiac arrest.” Upon their arrival, “clear signs of rigor mortis” were visible, and Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is expected to be performed at some point today.
Earlier, Thomas’ family revealed that they believed the cause of death was a seizure, as Thomas “had been suffering from seizures for over a year,” according to his cousin, LaTonya Bonseigneur.
This is a tragic loss for the NFL community, as Thomas was a beloved player who always gave back to his community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by Thomas’ passing.
