Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton is wanted in Florida on a domestic violence charge, officials revealed on Wednesday.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Sutton’s arrest earlier this month on one count of domestic battery by strangulation for an incident in Lutz, Florida, which is a suburb of Tampa.
More details have since been uncovered.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson informed ESPN.com there was evidence of wounds on the woman’s body that were likely from the incident involving the Detroit Lions star CB.
“We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning,” the Lions said in a statement. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time.”
Phil Martello, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said the department responded to a call for domestic violence in progress involving Sutton and an unnamed woman on March 7th. Martello said an arrest warrant was issued the same day.

On Wednesday, the department posted a message on social media asking for help locating Sutton. The post says Sutton may be driving a Jeep Grand Wagoneer and provided the license plate number and that he is believed to be in Florida, not Michigan.
