Dale Mooney, a 53-year-old New Hampshire resident, fell unconscious in the fourth quarter of New England’s “Sunday Night Football” game against the Miami Dolphins in the upper deck of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and could not be revived.
It was stated at the time he didn’t suffer from “traumatic” injuries when he collapsed during a fight. He was punched by a Miami Dolphins fan and fell unconscious, witnesses said.
Now that fan as well as two others are about to have their lives turned upside down.
On Thursday, it was reported police are seeking to charge three men in connection with the death of a fan at a New England Patriots game at Gillette Stadium. The department applied for criminal complaints alleging assault and battery and disorderly conduct against three Rhode Island men stemming from the Sept. 17 altercation.
“The applications for complaint submitted by the Foxborough Police Department will now be scheduled for a probable-cause hearing before a clerk or assistant clerk in the Wrentham District Court in the coming weeks,” police said in a statement.
Investigators said they conducted numerous interviews and examined multiple videos showing a scuffle that involved Mooney and others before he collapsed at the game.

The names of the men involved have not been released.
The final cause and manner of the death of Dale Mooney remain undetermined pending further testing by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.
Mooney’s wife told NBC10 Boston that he was a loving husband and father to their two boys, as well as a longtime Patriots fan.
Mooney was 53 years old and lived with his family in Newmarket, New Hampshire. The Patriots said he was a season ticket holder for 30 years.
