Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has shown “signs of improvement” since he was rushed to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during a game against the Bengals. It was reported by ESPN that doctors at the hospital got “promising readings that they had been hoping to see,” citing Jordon Rooney and the Hamlin family.
Rooney also clarified to the outlet that Hamlin needed to be resuscitated only once despite what Dorian Glenn, Hamlin’s uncle, told CNN on Tuesday night that Hamlin’s heart needed to be restarted for a second time.
The scary incident occurred with 5:58 remaining in the first quarter as the Bengals were on their second drive of the game when quarterback Joe Burrow threw a pass to Tee Higgins. Bills safety Hamlin came over to make a tackle to end the play. Hamlin was on the ground for a while as he received CPR from the medical staff on the field before he was put into the ambulance. Hamlin was being rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
In the aftermath is an outpouring of love as well as thoughts and prayers.
Speaking on The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, podcaster Garrett Bush talked about the real things that should be discussed as he tore into Roger Goodell over the state of affairs in the league.
“You know what the NFL will tell you? Well, you know what, ‘we’ll look out for the people like him.’ No, you won’t… The Bills owner Terry Pegula [is] worth $6.7 billion. My question to you is, ‘NFL, when do salaries become guaranteed, if you know these young men are going out there, and they could die on that football field?’”
“I don’t give a damn what your thoughts and prayers are. Do the right thing… I’ll be damned if I’m gonna sit up there and pat Roger Goodell on his back for running this organization the way he does. They run it like a criminal organization. Sick of it. I’m tired of that.”

The Bills selected Hamlin with the No. 212 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2021 draft. He played in 14 games last season – mostly on special teams – in his rookie season.
As for the irrelevant game between the Bengals and the Bills, it appears it will not be made up.
