Usually when an NFL team makes a big signing, their odds of winning the Super Bowl will improve. So when the opposite happens, and a free agent signing causes Vegas to shift your odds in the other direction, you know you did something wrong.
That’s the dilemma that the Pittsburgh Steelers are faced with, as signing Mitch Trubisky to be their next starting quarterback has actually made their odds of winning the Super Bowl worst, not better, according to the oddsmakers.
Based on the latest Super Bowl LVII odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, the Steelers now sit at 70-to-1 to win it all in 2022. Prior to signing Mitch Trubisky, Pittsburgh sat at 55-to-1.
Much of this has to do with the fact that Vegas has little faith in Mitch Trubisky leading a team all the way to a Super Bowl championship. And rightfully so.
However, the shift in odds is also the result of who the Steelers are NOT getting, now that they’ve signed Trubisky. Many believed they were still in the running for Deshaun Watson. And if he wasn’t available to them, there was tons of speculation that Jimmy Garoppolo would become the next starting quarterback in the Steel City.

With Trubisky now sitting atop the Steelers quarterback depth chart, it’ll be interested to see if the team looks to add some insurance behind him at the upcoming NFL Draft.
