Last season, Mike Tomlin ensured of a 15th straight season finishing at .500 or above. Despite the terrible start to this year, the team still has a chance to keep that streak going, but will it continue on past this year?
On Wednesday, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk suggested a possible blockbuster head coaching move involving the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach.
“Maybe [Mike] Tomlin to Carolina. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens,” Florio said on 93.7 The Fan.
It should be noted that Panthers owner David Tepper is a former Steelers minority owner. The team is desperately in need of leadership after they were forced to fire Matt Rhule after his terrible tenurs produced nothing to build on.
In almost 16 seasons, Tomlin has a 159-93-2 record and has also led the Steelers to a Super Bowl in 2008-09. If this trade were to happen, it won’t be cheap.
This past weekend, the Ravens held off the Steelers to improve to 9-4 and maintain their spot atop the AFC North. The Steelers dropped to 5-8 and their faint playoff hopes took a big hit.
