The Pittsburgh Steelers made a move this week when they released a quarterback from the roster.
The Steelers made another practice squad move today, with the team announcing that they have released quarterback Trace McSorley.
Pittsburgh signed him on December 4th.
“We have released QB Trace McSorley from the practice squad,” the tweet read.
The team entered the year with Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph but an injury to Kenny Pickett at the beginning of December created a temporary need for some more depth at the position.
That led to the Steelers adding Trace McSorley. Unfortunately, his time with the Steelers has now come to an end.

Despite not being drafted until the sixth round in 2019, McSorley had managed to keep himself consistently on NFL rosters for the first four seasons of his career. During his NFL career, McSorley has completed 52 percent of his passes for 502 yards, one touchdown, and five INTs.
The team has other issues as Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro linebacker T.J. Watt will not play in Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills due to a knee injury.
They will need a complete effort to pull out a victory on the road.
