It appears that most, if not all, players on the Pittsburgh Steelers will be continuing to honor Antwon Rose on their helmets for the remainder of the season.
It was offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva who first made waves by being the only player on the team to cover Rose’s name with a war veteran on his helmet.
Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey would soon follow when he took to Instagram and stated he did not have the entire story on Rose before he decided to rock his name to honor him. Not to mention, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick claimed the decision to honor Rose was made by “people upstairs” in the organization, not the players.
The entire controversy is the Steelers pushing the narrative that Rose was shot and killed by police during traffic stop for seemingly no reason. The biggest piece missing from the story is that Antwon was allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting before the police incident, with him being fingered as the triggerman.
TMZ Sports has since reached out to the Steelers and now they are leaving it up to the players on whether they want to continue to honor Rose.
“We acknowledge there could be changes this Sunday for players relating to helmet decals. That will be an individual decision.”
