The Washington Commanders are scrambling to address some potentially massive field issues at their Northwest Stadium ahead of Sunday’s clash with the New York Giants.
Photos have surfaced online showing three brown spots on the pitch in the buildup to the game, with irrigation heads cited as the problem.
The reason for the spots comes courtesy of the Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala, who quotes a team spokesperson.

The Commanders’ water issues are nothing new, though this latest one is a risk where the game is concerned. Their issues were recently highlighted by VP of content Rael Enteen, who has since been fired after being duped into making some shocking comments while on a date with an undercover journalist.

Enteen confirmed reports of leaking sewage before admitting he had to lie about it on behalf of the team.
“My job is to sell hope to the fans, right? I need them buying tickets,” he said. “When there’s not much hope to sell I still have to dig deep to find it.
“Because we had like pipes leaking sewage on our fans in the middle of the game. And I have to put out a social post saying like, ‘It wasn’t sewage water. We promise.’ That is state-run media.”
The Commanders and Giants are going into Sunday’s game with 0-1 records after both losing in Week 1.
Their field issues are likely to make things complicated.
