Nobody has to wait for confirmation to realize that Chris Godwin is done playing football in 2024.
We all have eyes, and we saw it in real-time during Monday Night Football.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had an atrocious night on Monday after losing both of their top two wide receivers against the Baltimore Ravens in a 41-31 Week 7 home loss.
Mike Evans was the first to go down early in the first half, and Chris Godwin went down with a significant leg injury with 1:04 left to play.
Evans is sure to come back and play in 2024, but for Godwin, his moment last night was a season-ender.
Chris Godwin’s injury occurred on a 21-yard catch-and-run with Tampa Bay trailing by 10, 41-31, which ended up being the game’s final score.
The injury was gruesome enough that the ESPN broadcast did not show a replay of the moment Godwin went down.

However, we are now seeing still images of him lying down on the ground, and it shows just how badly his ankle was turned in the wrong direction on the field after being tackled.
Before his injury, Chris Godwin had seven catches for 65 yards and no touchdowns.
This injury came nearly three years removed from a serious knee injury he suffered.
The Bucs were coming off a 51-point outburst against New Orleans in which Chris Godwin had 11 catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, that weapon is gone.
We Can Only Hope That This Doesn’t Effect The Career of Chris Godwin
All the Tampa Bay Bucs had to do was call off the dogs and end their night against the Baltimore Ravens. They had no clue they would lose much more than just a game.
With just seconds to play, star wideout Chris Godwin would suffer a terrible leg injury that would end his season. His injury is so bad that everyone prays that it doesn’t end his career.
Entering play Sunday, Godwin led the NFL in receptions (43), ranked third in receiving yards (511), and was tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions with five.
