Dan Campbell receives a lot of credit for the way he has been able to do a complete 180 on the Lions franchise.
He’s completely changed how fans think of the organization and even brought them to an NFC Championship game last year, until falling to the San Francisco 49ers.
He’s also gained a reputation as a very hard-nosed and tough person. Of course, standing at 6’5″ and 265 pounds, he’s comparable to almost all the players on his roster.
Now, resurfaced photos of Campbell in high school show that he’s likely been an intimidating person almost all his life.
In a photo with his basketball team, he towers over all the other players and looks menacing in his huge, oversized shoulder pads.
The photos of Campbell have since gone viral and everyone is saying the same thing.

Of course, Campbell attended Texas A&M University on a football scholarship and later played for the Giants, Cowboys, and Lions, which all seemed inevitable based on these pictures.
The Lions Were Smart Not To Give Up On Dan Campbell
Campbell has been the Lions’ head coach since 2021 and went 3-13 in his first season. Given how quickly teams give up on players and coaches, it’s almost surprising that they stuck with him.
Of course, it would pay off, as he has only improved since. By his second season, he led them to a winning record of 9-8 and 12-5 the next season.
In 2024, Campbell brought them to an 8-1 record to start the season. They are in line for a playoff spot and the possibility of getting a first-round bye.
His success shows that teams must give the people they spend so much more time to prove themselves.
