The Buffalo Bills have revealed the patches that their players will wear on Sunday for safety Damar Hamlin, who remains hospitalized after going into cardiac arrest on Monday night.
These patches will be of the number “three”, Hamlin’s uniform number. The Bills also announced that players will don “Love for Damar 3′ NIKE t-shirts during warmup, and that business staffers will wear label pins that read “3.”
Buffalo hosts the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium on Sunday. A Buffalo win and a Kansas City Chiefs loss to the Las Vegas Raiders would clinch the No. 1 seed for the Bills. A Buffalo win and a victory by the Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. the Cleveland Browns) or Miami Dolphins (vs. the New York Jets) would also eliminate New England from playoff contention.
Hamlin collapsed in the first quarter during Monday’s road game against the Cincinnati Bengals after tackling wide receiver Tee Higgins. Fortunately, medical personnel managed to restore Hamlin’s heartbeat before he was taken to the hospital.
On Friday, it was reported that Hamlin had his breathing tube removed, and that he communicated with Bills coaches and players via FaceTime during a team meeting.
