A popular restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina viciously trolled Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers following the quarterback’s surprise benching.
On Monday, Panthers head coach Dave Canales announced that he was benching Bryce Young in favor of veteran backup Andy Dalton following the team’s ugly 26-3 home loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Young’s first two stats were nothing short of a disaster. The first overall pick of 2023 completed just 55.4 percent of pass attempts for 245 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions, and Carolina has been outscored a ridiculous 73-13 over their first two games.
X/Twitter user @joshpberg shared a sign outside Charlotte’s popular Dilworth Neighborhood Grille restaurant. The sign listed the current records of former Panthers quarterbacks Baker Mayfield (2-0 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Sam Darnold ((2-0 with the Minnesota Vikings), ex-Panther head coach Matt Rhule (3-0 with Nebraska) and Bryce Young:
The Panthers sold the farm last year to acquire the No. 1 pick of 2023 from the Chicago Bears so they could acquire Young. And it’s not a stretch to suggest that this could go down as the worst trade in NFL history:

Over his first 18 NFL games, Bryce Young is 2-16-0 with a 59.3 completion percentage for 3,122 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He hasn’t had the best supporting cast around him, but a former Heisman Trophy winner and first-overall pick is supposed to be much better than that.
17 months after he was drafted first overall, it already looks like Bryce Young time in Carolina is on the verge of expiring.
Bryce Young Needs A Fresh Start
It’s easy to blame Bryce Young for the problems in Carolina. But it’s clearly an organizational issue when you see what has happened with Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield ever since they left Carolina.
The Panthers have won five games or fewer in four of David Tepper’s six seasons as an owner. Including interims, Tepper is already on his seventh head coach since assuming ownership of the franchise in 2018.
