Adam Schefter put his ESPN colleague on blast after security pulled him aside and asked him to show his ID at a Detroit casino.
Field Yates, who turned 37 this Tuesday, had difficulty sliding by as someone who was old enough to gamble, as his apparent babyface raised some concern. And Schefty was there for it.
The NFL insider shared a photo of Yates getting ID’d at a casino, with the pair taking in some of what the city has to offer before this week’s NFL Draft.
“On his 37th birthday, Field Yates actually just got stopped and carded to prove he was 21+ before he could walk through a Detroit casino,” Schefter wrote as the caption to a photo shared to Twitter/X showing Yates wearing a broad smile.
“Great start to draft week.“
“Best piece of news/content for draft week, hands down,” ESPN’s Jenna Laine wrote. “We can take the rest of the week off.”
“They do that to old folks to make them feel good,” said another user.

Adam Schefter Is On The Road
The NFL Draft is hitting the road for the tenth straight year, leaving New York City for the first time in 2015, so Adam Schefter is in the Motor City. Detroit will host this year’s event on the back of the Lions winning the NFC North last season. However, another NFC North team will take the first pick off the board on Thursday night, with the Chicago Bears set to draft Caleb Williams out of USC.
The Bears have slid into the top spot for the second year running after they traded with the Carolina Panthers in 2023.
The intrigue will begin after Williams goes off the board, as several other top quarterback prospects are set to be selected in the first round.
As for Yates, he would do well to keep that ID card close.
