It’s starting to become clearer by the week where Philip Rivers will be playing in 2020 after he and the Los Angeles Chargers mutually agreed to part ways.
Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, who was reporting from the 2020 NFL scouting combine, dropped some interesting information on Rivers’ next location.
Pauline wrote: “What will the Indianapolis Colts do to solve their quarterback dilemma? It’s been reported the past few days that soon to be free agent Philip Rivers would be the perfect solution and people at the NFL Combine tell me they believe ‘this will happen.’”
It was just a week ago when former teammate and Chargers free agent Melvin Gordon said he believed Rivers would end up signing with the Colts.
“I think he goes to the Colts,” Gordon said. “I don’t know, that’s just my thought.”
Gordon explained that this move would reunite Rivers with Nick Sirianni, who is the Colts’ offensive coordinator.
“He has [connections],” Gordon said. “Nick… he came from here, we had him, and he’s the offensive coordinator there. They run the same playbook, so it’d be easy, he could come right in and he could be telling guys what to do, he knows what’s going on already.”
