This is not going to be a good look.
When asked Thursday at training camp about Melvin Gordon and his absence from the team amid his contract dispute — QB Philip Rivers essentially downplayed Gordon’s importance and noted that L.A. is deep at the running back position with Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson and Derrick Gore.
According to Matt Szabo of the Los Angeles Times:
“They’re going to get a lot of work. It certainly is a deep position for us, and those guys all love to play and work hard. We love Melvin, but we’re going to go with what we’ve got. It’s a pretty dang good group.”
Even Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu thought those comments were harsh.
