The Philadelphia Eagles are finally bringing Kelly Green jerseys back after what’s been a lengthy hiatus.
The team hasn’t outfitted their players in the shade since 2010 but will do so again in 2023, with chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie confirming as much when he made his opening statement at the NFL owners’ meeting in Arizona on Tuesday evening.
Based on the social media reaction, fans seem to be pleased with the development. For one, it looks cool, but it’s also a nod to when the team won NFL championships in 1948, 1949, and 1960.

Philly was expected to bring Kelly Green back as Lurie had said so at the last owners’ meeting, noting Nike needed some more time to create the color to the exact specifications.
The Eagles owner has been wanting to deliver such news for a long time but required approval from the league for a second helmet. The change was approved in 2021 and went into force the following year, which is why there were several teams debuting a second helmet in 2022.
The Cincinnati Bengals notably wore white headgear while various others, including the Eagles, donned black.
It appears they will be doing away with the black for now, given that Kelly Green is returning after a 13-year absence, unless the NFL has quietly approved the use of a third helmet.
