The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a huge win against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Monday, but it did not stop them from making a huge move later in the week.
The Philadelphia Eagles are waiving former first-round pick Derek Barnett on Friday, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The defensive end is expected to draw interest and should land with a new team soon, adds Schefter.
The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Derek Barnett with the 14th overall pick back in 2017. Since then, he has registered 21.5 career sacks, playing in 71 games while racking up 141 tackles.
The fans may be sad to see him go but his career has been at a standstill over the past few years. Barnett came up as a trade candidate ahead of the deadline after being limited to a part-time role so far this year.
Barnett had some great moments in Philadelphia, with his most iconic play to help seal Super Bowl 52.
