After Aaron Rodgers called him “Mr. Pfizer,” Travis Kelce did not wait long to deliver his response back as he also explained why he chose to be a spokesperson for the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
Rodgers, who is on injured reserve due to an Achilles injury suffered early in his first game as a Jet, threw a barb Kelce’s way on The Pat McAfee Show while referencing Kelce’s new ad campaign with Pfizer.
“Y’know, Mr. Pfizer, we kind of shut him down a little bit, he didn’t have a crazy impact game,” Rodgers said while speaking on the Chiefs-Jets game.
Kelce spoke to members of the Kansas City media and was asked about Rodgers’s needling.
“I thought it was pretty good,” Kelce said. “I mean, with the ‘stache, I kind of look like a guy named Mr. Pfizer. Who knew I’d get into the vax wars with Aaron Rogers, man? ‘Mr. Pfizer’ vs. the Johnson & Johnson family over there.”
Kelce is not in this fight by himself as the pharmaceutical giant put up a billboard in Minneapolis, ahead of Sunday afternoon’s Chiefs vs. Vikings game at US Bank Stadium.
“Welcome Mr. Pfizer,” the billboard reads.

Rodgers has been outspoken about COVID-related promotions in the past after he infamously missed a game in 2021 due to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols after admitting to possibly misleading the public about his vaccination status.
Rodgers is still seeking medical advice from his own doctors and hasn’t ruled out a return to the field later this year, even though Achilles tears have tended to be season-ending injuries.
No matter what his doctors state, his season is finished.
