The ManningCast has been quite the treat for fans since its debut.
The Dallas Cowboys’ Wild Card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which the Cowboys won 31-14, was the final ESPN broadcast of the 2022–23 NFL season. In addition, it was the season’s last ManningCast. That means no more Peyton, Eli, and special guests.
The ManningCast began during the 2021 season and it did so good, it got renewed for this past season and did even better in the ratings department. The show only does 10 games a year, but many have called for them to do even more.
Peyton was asked about that this week, but he has zero plans of changing anything.
“One thing I think comes through is just how much Eli and I enjoy this,” Peyton said, via Awful Announcing. “We laugh a lot. If you maybe go to 17 games, maybe we’re not laughing as much, and it starts to get repetitive. ESPN has certainly mentioned going up to 12 games or more, and Eli and I held strong. We just feel the show is better if we keep it to the 10.”
Don’t fix what is not broken. The fans would love if they did more games, but like Manning said, if he and Eli aren’t enjoying it, then it doesn’t make since to keep doing it.
The TV ratings first year of ESPN’s Manningcast generated an average of 1.58 million viewers per game.
