Even with The Sheriff having been retired for several seasons now, Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady is still the best rivalry in football. And it was once again revived this evening, when Peyton took a dig at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback over his recent complaints regarding the NFL’s new jersey number rules.
Brady has famously complained about the league loosening restrictions on which numbers certain positions can wear — claiming that it puts the offense at a disadvantage when it comes to identifying blocking assignments. As for Manning…well, he thinks Tommy just needs to deal with it and learn which number each player is.
“[Brady’s] worrying about guys getting confused about who to block. My advice would be just to study that week that number six is the middle linebacker, Tom. And something tells me you’ll know how to do that and figure it out.”
Shots fired!
