Peyton Manning would love for one of his NFL records to be broken this year.
The former NFL signal caller had a forgettable rookie campaign after he got drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, but it seems everything worked out for him in the end.
Manning was in the league in 1998 after his career at Tennessee. The No. 1 overall draft pick joined a Colts team that had only won three games the previous season.
In his rookie season, Manning threw for 3,739 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. Despite his high number of interceptions, Manning showed promise as a rookie quarterback, and he earned NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors for his performance.
This week, Manning made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and revealed that his interception record could be broken this year.
“With the draft just the other day, I was thinking back to my rookie in ’98,” Manning began. “I was not very good that year, Pat. I threw 28 interceptions, which is still a record that I would like to get broken. I feel like this might be the year.”
“My advice to these coaches is to play Young, play Stroud, and play Richardson. Let ’em learn, but if they throw 29 picks, that’s not the worst thing in the world.”

Manning’s rookie season was also notable for his first NFL victory, which came in a Week 5 game against the San Diego Chargers. He led the Colts to a 17-12 victory, throwing for 163 yards and a touchdown.
While Manning’s rookie season was not without its struggles, he demonstrated the potential that would eventually make him one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Over the course of his career with the Colts, Manning would go on to win two NFL MVP awards, lead the team to two Super Bowl appearances, and ultimately cement his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
