Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning has succeeded in getting the controversial “Tush Push” outlawed.
The NFL is yet to decide on a way forward as it pertains to the patented Eagles quarterback sneak, though it should announce a ruling ahead of next season. But the youth football league Manning’s son plays in has already moved to ban it.
The two-time Super Bowl winner explained his role in getting the play becoming a violation while speaking to his brother Eli and guest Christian McCaffrey during Monday night’s ‘Manningcast’.
“Christian, the tush push, right? It’s all about who’s coaching it and how you execute, right?” he asked after the Eagles got a first down with the polarizing play.
“It’s not for everybody, right? The Eagles do it well, but so do the Cherry Creek Bruins, right? Arapaho Youth League, right? Watch the technique, right? We come in motion here, right? We bring Rider in motion. Marshall times the snap count and there it is. That’s how you get into the end zone, right?
“So look, that’s a well coached ball club.”
“Who coaches that Cherry Creek team?” Christian McCaffrey asked jokingly. “They must be a genius. Who coaches that?”
“I’m telling you,” Peyton shot back. “Look, it’s it’s all about the coaching, right? The players know how to execute.”

He then went on to explain how it ended up getting banned by the league his son plays in.
“Eli, we were told after that play, the ref’s like, ‘Hey, you can’t do that’,” he continued.
“I’m like, ‘The Eagles do it in the NFL.’
“He’s like, ‘This is not the NFL.’
“I’m like, ‘Oh, I thought seventh grade AYL Colorado Youth Football was the NFL.’ I was confused.
“But that was the last time we did it. They banned it in our league, but the NFL, you guys can still do it.”
Good going, Peyton…
Meanwhile, the NFL is mulling over the Eagles’ version of the sneak. It was previously reported that Commissioner Roger Goodell was all for having it banned, but he has since denied having taken a stance.
