Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning didn’t hold back on expressing his opinion over a questionable penalty in the New Orleans Saints-Baltimore Ravens game on Monday Night Football.
Early in the first quarter, Andy Dalton threw a pass in the direction of tight end Juwan Johnson. The ball took a bounce and fell into the waiting arms of Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, but Chuck Clark was penalized for defensive pass interference on the play.
The interception was nullified, but the Ravens defense forced a punt anyway, so the call didn’t end up costing them.
Peyton was co-hosting the latest edition of the “ManningCast” with younger brother Eli. The former, never shy in giving his honest take on things, ripped the officials for throwing a flag, calling it “a horrible call.”
There will always be questionable penalty calls in football, but this one should be largely forgotten about since it didn’t determine the game in any way. Baltimore thoroughly dominated on both sides of the ball, cruising to a 27-13 victory at the Caesars Superdome.
Once again, Baltimore’s stingy defense and powerful ground game led by superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson flourished on prime time. The Ravens rushed for 188 yards on 40 carries, with Jackson picking up 82 of them.
