Peyton Manning’s beer choice for a College World Series game is going viral.
“The Sheriff” and Tennessee graduate was in attendance for the Volunteers’ College World Series contest against the LSU Tigers. The five-time league MVP and two-time Super Bowl champion was seen drinking a Bud Light.
Manning’s simple beer choice led to plenty of outrage from some fans on social media.
Many have criticized and called for a boycott of Bud Light and other Anheuser-Busch products because of their relationship with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Responding to the public backlash, Mulvaney gave the following statement back in April:
“I’ve always tried to love everyone, even the people that make it really, really hard, and I think it’s OK to be frustrated with someone or confused. But what I’m struggling to understand is the need to dehumanize and to be cruel.
I just don’t think that’s right. Dehumanization has never fixed anything in history ever.”

Fans of Manning will know that he’s actually been a big-time fan of Bud Light and Budweiser for many years. Manning memorably stated that he would be drinking Budweiser after the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 win over the Carolina Panthers, the final game in his Hall of Fame career.
Manning retired after the 2015 season, walking away as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns (Drew Brees and Tom Brady have since surpassed him). Manning was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
