We are finally receiving great news regarding Peyton Hillis. This latest update comes after the former Arkansas and Browns running back reportedly saved his children from drowning in the ocean off the coast of Pensacola, Fla., earlier this month. He has been in critical condition ever since.
Hillis is no longer on a ventilator and is “on the road to recovery,” his girlfriend, singer and actress Angela Cole, said Wednesday night.
“A hero,” she wrote. “So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for family and this incredible hospital. Peyton is off the ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him, but thank you for all of your prayers and love and support thus far. It truly makes all the difference. Today was a good day.”
The 36-year-old was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft and spent his first two seasons there before he made his name with the Browns where he rushed for 1,177 yards on 270 carries and scoring 11 touchdowns in 2010.
Though he didn’t make the Pro Bowl that season, he was rewarded by being the cover athlete of Madden NFL 12.
