Pete Carroll threw some shade at the Seattle Seahawks during his emotional press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
In a surprise move, the Seahawks announced on Wednesday that the 72-year-old would no longer remain head coach of the organization. The Super Bowl 48 champion isn’t going anywhere, however, as Carroll was assigned to an advisory role.
During his press conference on Wednesday, Carroll made it clear that it wasn’t his decision to step down as head coach, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“I competed pretty hard to be the coach, just so you know,” Carroll said. “I realize I’m about as old as you can get in this busineSays it’s a good move for the organization and he went along with it.”
Per Corbin K. Smith of Sports Illustrated, Carroll wouldn’t specify any disagreements with the Seahawks that led to him stepping down. Carroll was also mum on the possibility of coaching again elsewhere.

Being the classy and humble man we’ve all come to know, it’s evident that Carroll wasn’t going to be retained as head coach. In order to avoid a messy divorce, Carroll walked away as head coach but nonetheless agreed to stick around as an advisor.
Carroll took over as head coach of the Seahawks in 2010. He led the team to 11 winning seasons, 10 postseason berths, two NFC Championships and a Super Bowl 48 victory.
