Pete Carroll really wanted to challenge a play against the Green Bay Packers, but he couldn’t find his challenge flag. So he did what any old man would do in such a situation: He threw his electric hand warmer.
Cameras caught the Seattle Seahawks coach as he fumbled around in his pockets in search of the red challenge flag during the first half of his team’s week 10 road contest against the Packers. Unable to find the flag, Carroll appeared to toss the first thing he could find, which just so happened to be the hand warmer.
Many on Twitter assumed it was some sort of outdated flip phone, which is exactly what you’d expect a 70-year-old man to be carrying around in his pocket.
It’s been a rough first half for Carroll and the Seahawks’ offense in Russell Wilson’s return. They’ve managed just 86 points while getting shut out by the Packers defense. Seattle currently trails Green Bay by a score of 3-0 at the half.
