The Cincinnati Bengals are not a good franchise to play for, but such is any team that is choosing a player with the top pick in the NFL Draft.
LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to be selected by them in the upcoming draft, but that doesn’t mean the feeling is mutual of him wanting to play there. In fact, Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports is reporting there’s a growing “perception” that Burrow indeed does not want to go Cincinnati:
“Look, this is a long process, right?” Burrow told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram this week. “[The Bengals] have their process that they have to go through, and so I am blessed to be in the position I’m in. If they select me, they select me, I’m going to do everything in my power to be the best football player I can be.”
“If they select me, they select me” is not exactly a great vote of approval and seems more like a guy who just might pull an Eli Manning and try and get himself out of playing for the franchise
The Bengals last playoff win came during the 1990 campaign. The franchise made the playoffs seven times in 11 years between 2005 and 2015, including five seasons in a row. They went 0-7 in those playoff games.
